Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
