Jurgen Klopp states rejoining to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought continental glory and ending the club's long wait for three decades, has since taken on roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the league title last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I declared I will never coach another team in England. So that means in case it's my former club...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests the choice could be mine down the line, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about what circumstances must arise to draw him back to the dugout, he revealed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to interviews multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out with the players enjoying conversation, that’s nice. With many victories meaning regularly a very good mood around the place. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly for his successor, crediting him due to the changes that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated four consecutive matches across various tournaments following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the idea that it might signal a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built balanced team. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and the effect on Liverpool. The Portugal international lost his life in a road accident alongside his brother recently.

“How do you replace a person like him? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it's his character. I can’t imagine the squad missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. It was an incredible shock for all the boys too. Not a single person will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this individually is not easy. Overwhelming.”
