The newcomer His maiden beginning in an England shirt. Slightly loose when playing out but his whipped set-pieces were a threat. An effective pace-controller for the boss to have versus sides that sit back. Cautioned after a reckless tackle. 6

The midfielder Deliveries from dead balls and free-kicks caused problems. Enjoyed license to drift in left midfield yet found himself offside as the pass came with a chance to score. Given a merited rest on the hour mark. 6

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a high role out wide while also contributed with the hard yards. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but scuffed an effort high. Substituted towards the end by Rogers, his competition, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Had England’s clearest opportunity in the opening period, his effort excellently kept out by Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah hanging back, he was forced to stretch the play down the right side but his crosses into the box varied in quality. Substituted late in the match. 6

The captain The difference-maker with his 77th and 78th goals in an England shirt. The first a trademark opportunist's goal and the second an excellent finish with his head having drifted away off his defender. At 32, he continues to improve and England have every chance in the upcoming tournament with him leading the line. Eight

The attacker Had difficulty to make an impact from the left. Had a presentable chance when set up by Bellingham yet Strakosha made the save. His replacement made much more of influence when substituted. 5
